Skillington Village Hall

Local Places of Worship

We have two churches in Skillington.

1. A Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in the Square run in association with Saltby Methodist Church
2. An Anglican Church of St James at the top of Church Street.

Local Schools

We have no primary school in the village, however there are three excellent small primary schools serving Skillington.

• Great Ponton CofE school www.greatpontonprimary.schnet.org

All are about 2 miles away.

The secondary schools are in Grantham of which there are many. The most famous being The Kings School which is now a fully selective Academy Grammar School. The bus service timings are ideal for pupils to commute from the village.

The Cross Swords Pub is right in the centre of Skillington. Both geographically and socially!

Since Charlotte and her partner Alan bought the pub in 2019 they have made, and are continuing to make, many changes to the benefit of both drinkers and diners.

There is nowhere like “the local” to gain an understanding of the true spirit and friendliness of a village.
